To survie we always need to know Who I am and What I am
All of us are struggling with the issues Who we are and What we are. Unfortunately, we most of the time see our self as a combination of the Who and the What. But this is not true. I am a father. That is Who I am, but What I am at the moment has nothing to do with who I am. The What is temporary and can change, but the Who is pure fact.
I am a father that is fact. But what kind of a father I am can change all the time. So, no one can be a bad father, because bad is what I am not who I am. And bad is the What that all of us want to change unto something positive

Many Jews are using the expression Baruch HaShem or Thank God when they are asked how they are feeling, what´s going on, anything new etc. But Baruch HaShem in itself is not an answer to any question. It just means that the person has Faith in God.
This means that you are obligated to answer the question that is asked to you with a correct answer. Many times, it also includes the expression Thank God or Baruch HaShem since we have the faith.
And if we have hardship, we can get help when answering the question asked about how we are feeling. Even though God provides for us what we need, but most of the time we have to do our part as well to receive the proper help. For example, if someone ask me how I am doing, and the answer is “I am sick Thank God”. Then the person who asked has the possibility to help out. For example, cook a meal, take care of my children etc.

Today is Rosh Chodesh Av and according to Jewish tradition this is the last stage of mourning before 9th of Av, the day when the 2nd temple was set on fire. But we have more reasons to mourn in Av then the destruction of the Beis HaMikdash. This is the destruction of Gush Katif (Gaza) in 2005. When the State of Israel eliminated Jewish history from parts of the Holy Land without and without any shame. Therefor whenever we say, “If I forget”, Gush Katif and Northern Shomron should be in our minds as much as Jerusalem but according to my opinion even more. Why? Because the destruction and elimination of Gush Katif was done with Jewish hands and not in the hands of any other Nation.
If I forget then it doesn´t exist
If I forget Gush Katif then I have forgotten about the Holy Land and it is not important in my life. When forgotten, then it doesn´t exist. Not only don´t I care about The Land of Israel, but I don´t care about the Jewish people as a whole. This may sound strange, but it is impossible to say that I care about the Land of Israel if I forget Gush Katif and is not mourning this from the deepest of my heart. Just like the Torah is not a Smorgasbord, the same is true with The Holy Land. Either I care about the Whole Land or no part of the Holy Land is important to me. And any part that is destroyed is like cutting of a limb from my body. Jerusalem is the Heart of the National Body, but Gush Katif is no less than a lung or a kidney.
If I forget Jewish History
Jewish History is much more than what is written in the Tanach. Jewish History is written every day. We can´t say that because the destruction of Gush Katif and Northern Shomron isn´t mentioned in any Holy Books therefore we don´t have to care about it. But I disagree very much. Jewish History can´t be forgotten and we always have to remember. If we ignore and study and remember what happens in the Holy Land, then we can also “ignore parts of the Tanach” that are not relevant today. But all agree that we have to study Tanach and remember Jewish history.
If I forget the destruction of Gush Katif
The destruction of Gush Katif wasn´t only the disagreement itself. Suddenly thousands of Jews had nowhere to go no home. They because refuges in their own home. No work, no income and the State of Israel ignored them and treated them without any human dignity. The outcome of this disaster that is much worse than the destruction of the Beis HaMikdash was the destruction of hundreds of families. Huge mental problems, depressions and abuse that we have never seen before because of this disaster. Many of previously happy Jewish couples ended up in divorces that not only broke up couples but demolished Jewish homes and families. This is impossible to restore and heal. And we all know that a Jewish Home is life a miniature Beis HaMikdash with the Holiness within it.
My last words of reflection
The historical disaster of Gush Katif did not only include the destruction and annihilation of Jewish life and its communities. It also destroyed hundreds of families and the Holiness that each and every family have. This Churban we are never allowed to forget, because if I forget Gush Katif I neither care about the Jewish Nation or the Land of Israel. And as I mentioned before “Never Again”
Every person wants to be a happy person, but it is not always so easy. We Jews even have an obligation, a positive commandment to be happy all the time “מצוה גדולה להיות בשמחה תמיד”. So, what is Jewish happiness and how can I achieve it? This is not a regular question that can be answered with a simple answer. What Jewish Happiness is can in a simple way be explained as the following: Every Jew have to understand with all his heart, soul and might that he is God´s servant (עבד השם). And to start this process we have to examine ourselves at a deep level and wholehearted except the extremely difficult challenge waiting for us. Often, we have to take help of professionals to do this, since very few of us are able to examine ourselves on such a deep level.
How to achieve Jewish Happiness
How to achieve Jewish Happiness is not the same for two people. Each and every one of us have our own personality and challenges, faith and what we are dealing with in our lives. And not two people have the same relationship to God. But in the end of the day we all want to understand on the deepest level possible that each of us is God´s servant (עבד השם) and that we can accept every challenge in life. In practice this is: We know that everything is for the best and we honestly understand that we have no reason to feel sorry for ourselves in any way. When we reach this level, we know we have achieved Jewish Happiness. Because this is the challenges that God have given to his Servant to overcome. But can every Jew achieve this goal?
Can every Jew achieve Jewish Happiness?
Every Jew have the possibility to achieve what we consider Jewish Happiness, but it doesn´t mean that this will actually happen. From above it looks so easy, but it is not. I assume that all observant Jews believe in God and his oneness, but that doesn´t mean that every Jew is able to open up his heart and pray to God when he needs it. it is one this to pray as we are obligated to do, but it is much more difficult to open up our hearts to God and ask for things that we need. It can be anything such as a job, health, children and much more.
But even if you can´t reach a complete stage of Jewish happiness it doesn´t mean that you can´t reach any at all. It is not all or nothing. We can only do our best and a bit more and always believe that we can do it and we can reach our goals.
